There is a growing body of research indicating a range of personal and interpersonal benefits
of ‘mindfulness’, as well as on its direct application as therapy for a range of mental health
problems. Rather than focusing on specific applications (such as Mindfulness Based Stress
Reduction (MSBR)), this essay should instead critically reflect on the impact of mindful
practice on counsellors/therapists, and the ways in which such practice may enhance their
counselling practice, skills, and therapeutic outcomes. The Reading List and lecture readings
