During this course we have read many sources describing France and French-speaking peoples’ historic roles in exploration, colonialism, resistance, emancipation, and decolonization.
Using one country, geographic region, and/or social movement to illustrate your response, how can we use knowledge of these historic processes to better understand present-day political, economic, and social realities in the Francophone world?
Possible paper topics include but are not limited to:
-Relief, recovery, and reconstruction in Haiti following the 2010 earthquake;
-Francophone hip-hop culture (in France or elsewhere);
-Protectionist language politics and policies in France, Quebec, and beyond.
