Introduction (2 pages)
– Minorities in the USA schools: The population of children in USA Early Childhood Education ECE schools is composed now, in addition to the natives, of children from different cultures. The parents of these children need to be heard to improve the schooling experience for their children and the school takes account of their culture, language and educational background. Some large size minorities were able to engage with schools due to the large number of those minorities’ students while other smaller minorities are deprived of this privilege due to cultural and language barriers. The formal decision process needs to take into account the viewpoints and goals of the parents of children of minorities.
Literature review: (8 pages)
– The importance of engagement: What is meant by Engagement and why is it different than involvement.
– Parent’s goals: The importance of parent’s goals in the decision making process.
– The importance of the culture and its impact on the parents goals and the decision making process.
– Ecocultural theory: The theoretical framework of the research. Definition and application to the context of the research. (Need to be supported by previous studies that used this theory in the context of ECE).

The Gap and gap analysis: (2 pages)
– The Saudi culture is totally different than the USA culture. That brings a lot of challenges to the Saudi parents in the USA to communicate with the ECE schools to express their viewpoints and goals for their children. Most researches done so far covered many different minorities including Hispanics, Africans, Chinese….etc. No study or research was ever done for the Saudi minority in the USA.
