• Description of the assessment of the child’s needs: This should be a brief description of the holistic (bio, psycho, social) assessment on the child that you would need to undertake to determine the problems, e.g. performing urinalysis is part of assessment – if the urine sample shows bacteria or shows a high specific gravity then giving antibiotics or increasing fluids is part of the management.
• Critique, discussion and rationale of the nursing management of the child/young person: Answer the questions. Discuss the rationale and intervention for the two major problems that you have determined to be of the highest priority using evidence based research and practice. Explain the associated altered anatomy and physiology. Include any medications that you think maybe used or could be prescribed if applicable.
• Application of evidence based practice. What does the literature support and why? Conduct a small literature review on the topic and identify key concepts that inform evidence based interventions
• Summary and evaluation of care: This is where you will evaluate the efficacy of the care and interventions given – i.e. what impact would the care have on the child and family.
