provide a broad summary of the use of contemporary imaging modalities; Mammography, Ultrasound (U/S) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to scan the human breast, including diagnostic indications, scanning considerations, fundamental, and advanced imaging techniques. A secondary aim is to differentiate between these modalities regarding the clinical findings and possible risks of each modality. The last aim is to summarise the appearance of the most common breast abnormalities and pathologies. It has been controversial issue over the most proper use of these imaging modalities. Based on the literature, this project will evaluate the role of 3 different modalities applied in both screening and diagnosing breast cancer, and will answer specific questions regarding their relative suitability based on various criteria.
