Scenario

Flourit is a bakery in Walsall that has been in existence for two years. It was founded by Malcolm Murrow, a very experienced baker, after having worked for forty years in a five star restaurant in London. The bakery has prided itself in making high quality rolls and loaves, using nothing but the finest ingredients possible.

He has four sous-bakers working under him, all of whom are a lot younger and more dynamic. They have a lot of revolutionary ideas as to what Flourit could manufacture, however Malcolm’s rather conservative approach to running the bakery does not allow any new creations or innovations to be introduced. This, in turn has reduced the working morale amongst the sous-bakers, thus reducing levels of productions.

Malcolm would very much like his bakery to grow leaps and bounds and so has come to you on advice on how to foster creativity and innovation within the bakery.

Task 1 (LO1, AC1.1, 1.2)

To begin with, Malcolm would need to understand the importance and benefits of adopting a creative and innovative ethos within the bakery.

B)Explain how Malcolm and his team could positively embrace innovation and change.

Task 2 (LO 2 AC 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4)

For the bakery to evolve, Malcolm should have the ability to support creative and innovative management processes in the organisation.

A)Assess the influence of vision and mission on the generation of creative and innovative management processes in the bakery.

B)Use analytical tools to identify potential creative and innovative management ideas that the bakery could deploy.

C)Assess risks and benefits of creative and innovative management ideas to Flourit as an organisation.

D)Use various change models to support the implementation of creative and innovative management ideas in the bakery.

Task 3 (LO3, AC3.1, 3.2, 3.3)

Once Malcolm has subscribed to adopting a creative and innovative culture, he should then drive his workforce to effect such change in the bakery that would bring out the creative and innovative spirits of the sous-bakers.

You are thus required to :

A)Produce an appropriate rationale to persuade stakeholders of Flourit of the benefits of a creative and innovative management idea.

B)Communicate a creative and innovative management idea to the stakeholders of the bakery.

C) Establish key goals and priorities for implementation of a creative and innovative management idea using feedback from stakeholders.

Task 4 (LO4 , AC 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4)

It is without doubt that there are barriers to creativity and innovation within any organisation, thus for the bakery to floursh, it should be able to overcome such obstacles.

You are thus required to :

A)Assess the barriers to the implementation of the creative and innovative management idea you proposed in Task 3.

B)Plan a strategy to overcome identified barriers to the implementation of a creative and innovative management idea in the bakery as an organisation.

C)Explain how a strategy plan for overcoming barriers will ensure innovative change is achieved.
