Construct an essay that argues for the validity of your thesis/claim. This thesis should make an overall determination of whether or not the author of your main article was effective in meeting his or her rhetorical goals in connecting the intended audience with the topic of the article.
You will need to incorporate a one page summary into this essay, most likely after your introduction and perhaps background information, but before your rhetorical analysis. In your analysis of the rhetorical content/context of the main article, you must also briefly synthesize a second text taken from the Weblinks list specific to Project 1(I listed both articles above), choosing another text from the Weblinks that offers further ideas on the broad topic. This synthesis should move beyond the simple comparing and contrasting with your main article, and offer an expanded view on your thesis in order to help support it.
Be sure to write in the “academic style,” i.e.: no first or second-person pronouns (I, me, we, us, you) and please use Standard American English. Research outside the article chosen is not allowed for this assignment, nor are quotations/citations from outside sources permitted. All quotations, paraphrases and large blocks of summary must be fully cited in MLA format, using paragraph #’s for in-text citations (par. #).
Your paper should follow the organizational outline provided by your instructor, and must make mention of “Rhetorical Content” (Genre, Organization, Purpose, Stylistic Features, and Tone, etc.) of the main, summarized article that is the subject of your response. Please note: essays that just respond to the topic of the article, and do not offer an analysis of Rhetorical Content, will earn a substantially lower grade,
A separate Works Cited page is not required, but please list the bibliographical data for your two sources after your concluding paragraph, and this information is not considered part of the overall page length.
You may use either article as the main article and use the other to synthesize. Below are the links you can use to find the articles I have to use for this essay.

Please note: essays that just respond to the topic of the article, and do not offer an analysis of Rhetorical Content, will earn a substantially lower grade, as seen in the grading rubric that will be provided before Final Draft is due. A separate Works Cited page is not required, but please list the bibliographical data for your two sources after your concluding paragraph, and this information is not considered part of the overall page length.
