Documentary filmmaking is one of the form of distribution of information emerged during this period, finding its roots conventionally back in 1922, with the production of Nanook of the North from director Robert J. Flaherty. From there, this genre has undertaken an almost centenary evolution, leading to the current idea we have of documentary. However, the definition of Documentary itself is very vague and many experts have given throughout history have had different, contrasting ideas about this particular genre and its proper characteristics. A very particular kind of movie which aims to be truthful, but cannot since its the work of a man and tied to his subjectivity and relies on element of fiction to depict reality, which, during its history, has been used and misused, working as a powerful tool for propaganda .
