Review Hitchcock’s North by Northwest Storyboard Version in Chapter 4. Select 6 scenes–any scenes–and describe the editing technique used to move from one scene to another (for that pairing), and why you think Hitchcock may have used that subsequent shot (in other words, what does that transition accomplish). You will need to select two scenes at a time, so your final analysis will be a description of three segments. For example, you will describe how you would edit Scene #1 to scene #2, then scene #23 to scene #24, then scene #33b to #34 (obviously you don’t have to use these specific scenes). Use the editing/transition techniques described in this week’s (Week 5’s) lecture under the red heading (matched cut is not one of the options). You must use three different technique examples– so the type of cut you select cannot be the same for any of your examples.Your paper should have three analysis sections and at least an introduction, if not a conclusion. The total word count should be between 700 and 1000 words. Again I’m interested in what the editing transition is and what it accomplishes in terms of an effect on the viewer in your assessment. Feel free to bring in outside references if appropriate to dissect this famous scene, but remember that ideas or words from other authors must be properly cited. And don’t forget to proof-read your work.
