Part A
Contemporary Conditions: Provide a snapshot of the city today. What are its population and cultural characteristics? Discuss its economic structure (trade, services, industry, etc.) and any special comparative advantages it has that contribute to its current prosperity. What are the living standards of its population — education, income, housing, etc. ? What is the current political situation? How stable is it? How does this city relate to the rest of the global community.

Part B
Sustainability: “City as living Organism”: Living organisms require inputs and generate outputs. They interact with the biosphere of the planet either directly or indirectly. What are the imports necessary to keep the city functioning (food, water, economic inputs, etc) and where do they come from? How do they get there? Outputs: What does the city export? Where does it go? How does it get there? How do these activities of the city affect the resources of the Earth? Will they continue to be available?
