Discuss how East Asia, regional idea does and does not work well as a unit of global geographic analysis.

Among the regional concepts we have encountered this semester are Europe, East Asia, South Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Looking at the world in this regionalized way helps us see patterns in human and physical geography that exist at a global or continental scale and are shaped by processes of globalization. Choose any one (1) of the five regions mentioned above, and discuss how this regional idea does and does not work well as a unit of global geographic analysis. Your response MUST address the following:

What characteristic features define the region? Based on these characteristics, where is it located on the map: where is its geographic core(s), and what are the region’s boundaries? (5 points possible)

Conversely, how does this region mislead us in our attempt to understand world geography? For example, what significant diversities exist inside the region? How are the region’s defining characteristics not fully contained within its boundaries but instead also present in other parts of the world? (5 points possible)

How is the region interconnected to the rest of the world through the political-economic, social-cultural, and environmental processes associated with globalization? Rather than trying to address all such interconnections for your region, highlight one or two specific trends. (5 points possible)

can be just 3 separate paragraph that answer each questions separately on the same region instead of a 3-4 pages connected essay
