Research Essay must address the past, present, and future of economic, demographic, and social (for example: education, housing, poverty, crime, health care, etc.) conditions in greater Cleveland.
Research essay must contain an introduction and conclusion, as well as major sections addressing the following elements:
A. The Present – “Where are we?”: Discuss and analyze what you think are the most relevant and important social, economic, and demographic conditions currently facing the greater Cleveland area for the time period around the 1990s through the 2010s.
B. The Past – “How did we get here?”: Discuss and analyze the historical and contemporary background of the social, economic, and demographic conditions facing the greater Cleveland area. This section should consider how past trends and events have influenced and shaped today’s greater Cleveland from its modern founding in the 1790s to the 1990s.
C. The Future – “Where are we going?”: Discuss and analyze what you think are the three most relevant and important social, economic, and demographic challenges facing the future of greater Cleveland and how these challenges could be successfully addressed through efforts to improve the region’s economy, promote sustainable development, and encourage regional cooperation.
