Critically explore the risks, challenges and key issues in relation to starting up a new restaurant in Cardiff Bay in light of the current economic climate in the UK.
The work should be presented in report format. The report should be no longer than 3,000 words
Note this is NOT a business plan, you are to explore the risks and challenges you would encounter when you are attempting to set up a business. Students will be encouraged to fully research the assignment topic with extra reward being given to students using appropriate academic texts, newspapers, journals, appropriate Internet sites, Government publications etc.

THIS REPORT SHOULD BE STRUCTURED IN THE FOLLOWING WAY
1. CONTENTS PAGE
This should contain a detailed yet brief INTRODOCUTION. The introduction should list the challenges in setting up a business in Cardiff Bay, Wales. Then you should discuss four points critically. Note that the criticality will be based on arguments and a debate, comparing views of authors. NOTE: It is NOT a business plan but a report.
Also the following should be looked into
– Important of SME’s to the UK and locally in Cardiff, Wales.
– Current economic climate of UK. Is it low cost or High End.
– Research on hospitality and catering in Wales.
– What type of restaurant will it be? Discuss the target market in relation to the current economy.
2. The MAINBODY should focus on
Key challenges like:
– Need for a competitive strategy
– Networking, entrepreneurial traits
– Growth strategies.
– Financing the start up.
– Business planning as an issue.
– Exit and succession strategies
Also the following should be looked at-.
– Tables could be added to show facts and figures of findings.
NOTE THAT: A LOT OF REFERENCES FROM JOURNALS AND APPROPRIATE TEXT BOOKS SHOULD BE CITED WHILE WRITING THIS REPORT AS MARKS WILL BE AWARDED WHILE COMPARING VIEWS OF AUTHORS AND CRITCALLY EXAMINING KEY ISSUES.
3. CONCLUSION
Conclusion should be very detailed based on all the research findings carried out in the report and recommendations are not needed. Just a detailed conclusion with references cited while writing as well.
4. REFERENCE
Resources for references should be strictly academic journals and text books. The references should be at least up to about 20 and more at the end of the reported. References carry marks so they should be a lot of references while writing this report in every section. Each stage of this report must be back up with references while stating arguments and critically explaining points.
