A Lesson Before Dying C&C Essay Prompt
The following is the criteria for your comparison/contrast essay.
Your essay will need to be at least two pages (500+) in length, following the MLA format. Be sure to give the word count under the date in the MLA header. And, remember that your last name and page number belongs on every page of your work.
You will have your choice of one (1) of the three (3) essay prompts below.
Also, see page 277 – 278 in your Real Essays book “Writing Guide: Comparison and Contrast” as some of it may help you in the construction of your essay. (Obviously, some areas will not apply.)
Prompt
In your C&C essay you will choose the following to explore as presented in the novel/film for your C&C essay. You will need to decide whether you wish to compare or contrast and if you will use Point by Point or Whole to Whole. Remember to use transitions that let your reader know where you are leading them throughout your essay. And, remember that your introduction and conclusion need to be strong and to “Book End’ your essay for your readers. Also, you must use at least one (1) quote from the novel to help support your essay’s thesis. And, in your RE text you may refer to pages 364-366 for information on how to “Use In-Text Citations within Your Essay.” I have also supplied a Works Cited page for you at the bottom on this prompt. Yours Works Cited page must not only accompany your rough draft for our Writer’s Workshop and on your final draft as well.
