Film review
“Their Eyes Were Watching God”
Find the film on YouTube then watch the film. The film, originally Zora Neale Hurston wrote this novel, now turned movie, in the 1930s, is a classic example of a black love story, epic in black history terms. It is the perfect example of one of the greatest literary pieces emanating out of the Harlem Renaissance. Compare and contrast Janie’s three relationships. How do they differ from one another? What does this film say about black life in the 1920s and 1930s? Mind you, this film zooms in on an all black world with little to no white characters during the era of Jim Crow.
