CASE ANALYSIS/ETHICS THEORY PAPER –Due June 15th
Purpose of the assignment:
1. To understand how ethics theory can be applied to real dilemmas.
2. To analyze and develop an ethically just resolution for a common ethical dilemma in a business environment.
3. To learn how to write a paper that reflects your ability to identify, analyze and resolve ethical dilemmas.
Each student will be assigned a case and the process for writing the analysis is as follows:
1. Provide a brief synopsis of the case explaining the essential facts.
2. Identify the key decision maker in your case and the issue that he/she must address.
3. Define and use the following theories to analyze the issue faced by the decision maker:
Egoism, Social Group Relativism, Cultural Relativism, Utilitarianism, Virtue Ethics and Justice or Rights.
After completing the analysis section using the theories, provide a convincing argument in which you explain what you would do if you stood in the shoes of the decision maker.
