Title of Your Paper (for example: International Trade Theory)

Your Name (for example: Robert Johnson)

Topic Number (for example: Topic Three)

IBUS 330 Term Paper – Spring Semester 2015

San Francisco State University

Abstract: Do not use an abstract for this paper

Running Heads: Do not use running heads anywhere in this paper.

Headers/Footers: Do not use either headers or footers, only page numbering.

BODY OF THE PAPER

Page Numbers: Use your word processor’s function to put 2 in the top right corner of the first page of the body. Word will then continue putting subsequent page numbers in the top right-hand corner of all pages for the remainder of the body and reference list (to the end of the whole paper).

Introduction: Do not use “Introduction” as your first heading. It is assumed that the beginning of the paper is the introduction.

Margins: Use 1-inch margins all around (top, bottom, right, left)

Headings: Use a maximum of three levels of headings

Quotations: Do not use any direct quotations in your paper

Spacing: Double-space everything except the Reference List at the end

Absolute Minimum Length: Eight double-spaced pages of content, not counting title page and not counting the reference list.

Please Note Carefully: Eight double-spaced pages of content is the absolute minimum required for your paper to be graded. The eight-page minimum does not include the title page and it does not include the reference list. For example, if you submit a paper with a title page, seven pages of content and two pages of references, we will not grade your paper since it would not meet the absolute minimum requirement. No partial points would be awarded and a grade of zero would be entered in the grade book for the paper.

Absolute Maximum length: 25 double-spaced pages of content is the absolute maximum allowed. We will not grade nor give any points to a paper with more than 25 pages of content.

Please Note Carefully — Ideal length: We cannot specify an ideal number of pages, but a good paper could be somewhere in the middle. Actual lengths of well-written papers will vary and will be a function of the quality and clarity of your work. It would be difficult to write an exceptional paper in only 10 or 11 pages. Focus on answering the topics clearly, follow the instructions and make sure you are not under or over the absolute page limits and you should be fine.

In-text citations: Paraphrase key information from your sources and credit them with in-text citations according to APA style.

Please Remember: All in-text citations must also appear in the Reference List and all items in the Reference List must appear as in-text citations.

Widows and Orphans/Word Wrap/Keep Text Together: Use Word or your word processor’s function to keep text together around the end of a page or beginning of the next page. In Word, this is in the Home Tab.

Figures, Lists, Tables, Appendices, Other: It is doubtful anyone will need to use any of these in this paper, but if you do, make sure you do it in proper APA style. By now you know how to search such things in a variety of sources (APA Style Guide, Purdue Owl, Google Searches, etc.).

Table of Contents: Do not use a table of contents in this paper.

REFERENCE LIST:

Page Numbering: Continue to number all pages in the upper right corner

What to Include: Each in-text citation should appear as a reference in the Reference List.

Annotated Bibliography: Do not include the annotated bibliography in the final paper. For the references that you did use from your annotated bibliography you will have given them credit with in-text citations in the body of the paper. For these you can bring the APA reference directly into the Reference List — but not the annotations.

Spacing: Do not double space the actual references. Single space the lines in each reference but double space between them.

CONTENT FOR EACH TOPIC:

Professor Nicholson has provided instructions on each topic for what is expected for the content of the paper. Please carefully review the instructions for your topic provided in the Content Forum.

CONSISTENCY REQUIREMENT:

Your final paper topic must match the topic you used in the proposal and annotated bibliography. If it does not match, you will receive a zero grade.
