I have written around 12,000 words for a 10,000 word dissertation. The paper needs a literature review written for it, this is to be separate and at the beginning of the paper. The rest of the paper needs work to refocus it onto film theory. It needs to analyse films to corroborate the argument. The argument in the paper as it exists is also an issue. It has become to focused on the machinery of the film industry being used to create propaganda to promote or berate whatever product the American government wants them too. The whole paper needs to refocus on the change in representations of marijuana in American film, while making the point that this change in representation could be driven by public changing attitude or propaganda for the American government. I am not sure if this is even a strong enough argument for the paper. I would appreciate the writers input of the thesis of the paper once they have read it as it stands now.
