This Module is full of TED Talk videos that are all related to the brain and neuroscience. Please understand that the content of the videos in this Module is NOT something that you need to focus on studying for your exams. You also are NOT required to watch all of these videos. The reason I am providing you with so many choices here is because I want to increase the chances that you will find a video that you really enjoy for this assignment. Your job is to pick ONE of these videos and then to write a reflection paper that is between one and two pages (typed and double-spaced using 12-point font and 1″ margins). Please note that I am NOT just looking for you to summarize what the video was about…. because I have watched them myself. Instead, the main thing I am looking for here is critical thinking and meaningful reflection on what you watched. You can reference specific portions of the video in your paper… or even use small quotes if you want. Just please don’t give me a “play-by-play” that basically summarizes all the details of what the video was about. Here are some questions that you can use to guide your paper, but you don’t necessarily need to “go down the list” and answer these questions in order. (These are suggested prompts to get you thinking… NOT a list of required questions that your paper has to address). What was the most interesting thing that you learned in the video? What really made you think or what really amazed you? What questions did you have after watching the video? Was there something about the video you found confusing or didn’t understand? What connections did you see to the things we learned in Modules 4 and 5? Did you see any connections between the video and something you have learned in your other classes? Was there something you wanted to know more about after watching the video? Did watching the video change your perspective on anything (or change how you think about something)? Why do you think the speaker chose to give this talk? What was his or her main objective? If you were in the audience and could say one thing to the speaker, what feedback would you give? You need to put some time and effort into crafting your paper. As a general rule of thumb, I am looking for about 1 to 2 full pages (typed and double-spaced using 12-point font and 1″ margins). My goal is not to “count your words,” but another rough guideline would be to think of this paper as being between 400 to 700 words.
