Policy Analysis Paper

Select an education policy in the United States designed to intervene and help students, families, and teachers improve student achievement. In an eight- to ten- page paper, evaluate the policy’s effectiveness in promoting student achievement, using traditional and non-traditional perspectives. Then, analyze the divergent perspectives that surround the policy.

Next, explain how the policy is adopted from the national to micro-political level.  This explanation should also address the multiple forces that help determine how the policy is ultimately translated to the classroom (i.e., does it conflict with or work in concert with other similar policies?  How differently would the policy look if the student’s needs were placed at the center of the policy web, much like in the model proposed in Chapter 10?).

Finally, offer comparisons to similar programs from other states or countries, and suggest improvements or alternatives to the policy. You should build on, but not duplicate, ideas already covered in the course.

Your paper should be eight- to ten- pages in length, excluding title and reference page, and should be formatted to APA style.  It should also contain at least three sources.
