You have been summoned from the west to travel to the east to bring light to some of the decision makers and stakeholders

The US Attorney General has heard that you have a great deal of insight as it relates to information security and cybercrimes and has summoned you to develop a report in reference to the topics covered in this class and in light of the “on the ground” realities of the stories and issues presented therein.

Most important, he wants you to identify what you think are the three or four issues that need to be taken on by the DoJ to better support either the public or private sectors (or both) in light of the threats.

The AG wants to give you wide latitude on this project so you can approach this from the perspective of an individual government agency or corporation and assess the issues in light of that agencies mission or the corporations business/industrial sector. You may also, if you choose, attempt this same project from a different angle. You can play the role of a CEO or CRO of major international corporation and present the same brief to the AG from the perspective helping businesses- which, remember, have a different mission than the public sector, which is enhancing shareholder wealth.

You may also address this from the perspective of a multinational corporation- but you need to either pick a specific entity OR type of corporation/industry. Is this confusing? OK, here’s a simplified version: Pick a specific entity- public or private. Pick a role to play- IS professional, CEO, CTO, whatever… and craft a well considered and empirically supported memo where you identify which of the concepts and themes covered in this course are the most critical to your entities success AND propose how the DoJ can better support your agency/corporation/entity in light of your arguments.

In short: What’s key here is you present an empirically grounded argument for what you think are the top issues and why and what you think ought to be done in order to improve the ability of those entities to respond to the issues you believe are most critical. Also important is that you demonstrate your comprehension of the the assigned materials.
