By doing this, you identify core information and analysis of issues relating to your topic. Discussion of choice of research methodology and methods (approx. 1300 words)
[Throughout the term, we discussed the role that the choice of research methodology (Doctrinal, socio –legal, comparative, feminist , Empirical) and research methods plays in shaping a research project – the assumptions and values that different methodologies carry, the questions to be asked, the sources that are preferred or privileged and the methods to be used. This is the largest section of the Research Methods coursework and reflects the central emphasis of the syllabus. In it, you should set out the methodology and methods to be adopted by your dissertation and engage in a critical evaluation and justification of those choices.]
Choose the appropriate methodology for your topic and explain why you have chosen and the methods in how can you conduct your research.
Reflective Diary (approx. 900 words)
[Completing a dissertation is a process that takes time to accomplish. As preparation for writing your dissertation, it is important to reflect on your initial engagement with this larger project through this coursework. Reflection requires you to identify your research process honestly – what went well and what did not? After identifying these experiences, a good reflective diary will discuss how those initial experiences, both positive and negative, can be built upon, and perhaps also discuss if you have already implemented improvements and changes. A reflective diary is a personal exercise that works best when approached with honesty and critical self-examination. There is no ‘correct’ reflective diary, only those that more openly and helpfully identify how you research and what your strengths and weaknesses are. Therefore, for example, a reflective diary that details your weaknesses as a researcher is a valid response. It will be improved by discussing ways in which your research process can be improved.

Total = 3500 words

When submitting the coursework, the document should contain the following:

a) A contents list specifying the page number for each sub-section of the coursework
b) Word count
c) Your bibliography and footnotes (not included in the word count)
d) Your coursework should be word-processed in 12 pt Times New Roman or Arial font and double spaced
e) Submit your coursework as a Word document (e.g. .doc or .docx). While it is possible to submit using a range of formats, some of your formatting, e.g. spacing, fonts or footnotes, may be lost or corrupted when the document is opened by the marker.

Footnotes can only be used for reference and should comply with the OSCOLA referencing system. Any narrative description in footnotes will be disregarded by the marker.

Your bibliography should be completed using the OSCOLA referencing system.
