Purpose:
According to the author of the textbook, the formula for implementing a successful enterprise system revolves around five recommendations. These five recommendations are explained in detail in the chapter. The following sets of questions apply to Recommendation #3 and #4.
Prepare a Microsoft Word document (minimum of one page) answering the following two sets of questions. Each set of questions is worth 5 points/each.
Recommendation #3:
1. What part does training users in an ERP system play, and how important is it in job satisfaction?
2. What productivity problems can result in an ERP implementation?
Recommendation #4:
1. What are the payoffs from taking a multidisciplinary approach to an ERP implementation?
2. What departments are affected, and what is the typicaltime frame?
a. The book does not mention a time frame but what do you think the time frame would be? This is your opinion. Like I mentioned before, when (or how often) would these people get together to discuss how the day-to-day activities or processes will work in the new system? How often would they meet? At what point would they be done?
b. What does this tell you about your chosen career field and the need for knowledge about ERP systems? Will it affect your job? Will such knowledge make you more marketable?
