the Harvard School of Public Health’s website, The Obesity Prevention Source, states:
In the U.S. and many parts of the world, the so-called food environment—the physical and social surroundings that influence what we eat—makes it far too hard to choose healthy foods, and all too easy to choose unhealthy foods. Some even call this food environment “toxic” because of the way it corrodes healthy lifestyles and promotes obesity. (“Toxic”)
For this essay, you must test the concept of a “food environment” by conducting independent, first hand research of your own by observing, describing and analyzing your own food environment. Use specific examples taken from your observations and analyze whether they contribute to the so-called “toxic” food environment.
Describe these four parts of your overall food environment:
2.) School/Work Place
4.) In the media you consume (ex. TV, internet, and films)
This is a research essay, but you do not need to consult or cite any secondary sources in your essay. All of the research will be from your observations, therefore you do not need to cite any sources nor do you need a Works Cited page.
