CLIENT: 2018 FIFA Word Cup Moscow

Overview
Students will choose a brand/company to be their client. For the assignment students will inventory, observe and analyze their client’s social media presence, strategy recommendations and create content that could be utilized on the client’s different social media properties. The goal of this project is for you to walk away with an understanding of the steps social media managers must take when handling different accounts for a client. Show me what you have learned, back up your statements with examples and be creative!

Format
Students will submit the social media analysis clearly articulating the items outlined below. Each client is different, so while it is difficult to pinpoint a page guideline, it would be unlikely that a client’s social media presence could be fully analyzed in under 10 pages (12 point, double spaced). Where it is applicable, feel free to use charts/appendixes, similar to what you have seen in the case studies.

Your group’s social media analysis must include:
• Client social media inventory and metrics
o Find all brand social media properties
• Include links and usernames
o Benchmark each property
• Determine the change over time and analyze the change.
• How much engagement is occurring in a two-week period? What were the most popular posts? The least? Why do you think this was the case?
• Analysis of the client’s social media strategy 12 pts
o What appear to be your client’s social media objectives (what are they trying to achieve)?
o How does your client stand out/differ from its competition?
o Describe the target audience for each platform
• Who is your target demographic? (Include demographic, psychographic, and behavioral information. What are their social media habits?
o Define the brand voice on each platform.
• Does this differ dramatically from platform to platform?
• How does the brand voice/tone play into who the target market is?
o What is your client doing well on social media?
o What metrics would you use to determine if you client is being successful?
• Content creation 8 pts
o Now that you have defined your client’s voice and target audience, create 5 thoughtful social media posts that meet your client’s objectives. Write tweets/Facebook post, a storyboard for a Vine video, photos for Instagram…etc.
o Mocked-up examples should be provided – it will be graded not on execution, but rather on creativity and alignment with the client’s strategy and established social media presence.
• Client Recommendations 4 pts
o What can your client do to improve? Recommendations must be appropriate to the client, and target audience and supported with evidence. Why are you recommending doing X?

Groups will be graded on depth of research, analysis, holistic recommendations, clear articulation and on brand content examples. Be sure to note sources throughout your analysis – embedded links are fine.
