Identify and give the significance of five of the following : Sandra Day O’Connor “Star Wars” (not the movie) Persian Gulf War I

In discussing the political cross-currents of the late 20th and early 21st century, one historian has written, “the new conservatism has nothing to do with conservatism at all, since these individuals aren’t trying to conserve anything. They’re out to destroy the system. The Old South — the Old Southern Democrats — have seized control of the Republican Party, and from Reagan forward, they have played on the fear of uneducated poor whites fearing equality with black people and other nonwhite people, and with that they have transferred wealth to the rich, undermined regulatory government, and launched a new and costly imperialism in foreign policy — all of which has made the Old South the dominant political region, and in doing so, the Republicans have repudiated their traditional policies in favor of that of the old Southern Democrats. In effect, since about 1980, the two political parties have switched positions.” Analyze this historians view in terms of the political movements of the past 25 or so years. To what degree is this historian correct or not correct at all?
