Safe Assign Notes
No plagiarism
• If a student receives, a Safe Assign score of over 15% the following steps will be taken.
• The classroom teacher will look at the Safe Assign report to determine if the cause of the unacceptable percentage is a quote, the inclusion of references, common sentences or some other similar reason. If it is determined, that this is the cause of the unacceptable percentage then the essay will be graded as regular.
However, if it is determined that the cause of the unacceptable percentage is actually plagiarism then the student will receive a zero for the assignment if it is their first offence and a zero for the course if it is their second offence.
• If a student receives a Safe Assign score of less than 15% but a teacher finds portions of the student’s text has been copied from a source and the amount of plagiarised text amounts to 15% (or any combination of a given Safe Assign score + plagiarised text discovered by a teacher) then the student will receive a zero for the assignment if it is their first offence and a zero for the course if it is their second offence.
