Answer the three questions
While the quality of the response is more important than the length, you should expect to write at least five paragraphs, an introduction including an argument explaining how you will answer the question and defend your argument (a thesis), the body of the essay with specific examples that support your argument (3 paragraphs to separate your points, you may need more depending on the response) and a conclusion. You should expect to write about 1 to 1 1/2 pages typed double spaced.
1. How did major technological changes in the West help drive imperialism during the nineteenth century?
2. How did the Versailles peace treaties set the basis for future conflicts in both Europe and the colonial world? Constructively critique the Treaty of Versailles. If the treaty had been written differently, do you think World War II could have been avoided? Explain.
3. What were the causes of the Great Depression of the 1930s? What aspects and people within society were most affected? Why was it more severe and longer lasting than previous depressions?
