Choose at least two images of organisations from Morgan’s textbook and analyse one aspect of your SimVen experience (e.g. one decision or a set of decisions, one problem you faced, your team structure, the performance of your CEO, etc.) according to these selected images. See Chapter 11 of Morgan’s textbook for an example of such analysis.

State clearly which one aspect you analyse and detail your analysis. In addition, based on your analysis, address shortly these three questions:
(a) What does it tell you on the SimVen ‘virtual’ organisation in particular, and on organisations in general?
(b) What have you learned during SimVen on organisations and their functioning?
(c) Is your personal learning echoing some of Morgan’s points on images of organisations? What is similar and different and why?

Your individual CW2 mark is worth half of your coursework mark for the module (hence, 25% of your
overall module mark). In this individual assignment, special attention is given on how you can
leverage course material to bear on your personal experience in SimVen.
Description of typical factors in highest scoring work:
• Analyse rather than describe;
• Careful and adequate analysis based on course material;
• Insightful critique of the issue from different perspectives;
• Evidence of substantial learning and/or insights from personal experience ;
• Reflexivity on biases implied by using different images.
Common errors causing loss of marks:
• No evidence of successful engagement with course material and theoretical frameworks;
• Mostly description, no or little analysis;
• No or little reflexivity and critical thinking;
• No or little evidence of learning from personal experience and generalizing that learning to
other contexts.
