Briefly describe the contents of the Kyoto protocol. What has been the US response? Has your term project country agreed to the protocol? What do you feel is the proper response for the US and for the country in your term project Why?
This should take about half a page double spaced. 50 points
Note that WHO estimates that world wide one in four cases of death or disease is due to a modifiable environmental factor. Look at table 10-2
Look at the map on page 483. What is the environmental disease burden for your term project country?
For the rest of this assignment you may do either of the following (you could do both to continue to flesh out your term paper)
Write at least a half of a page double spaced that describes some of the environmental issues that impact the country in your term paper. This could be recovering from natural disasters, it could be man made issues such as deforestation, it could be problems of using up water, or some pollution issue, or any other environmental issue.
Write at least a half a page double spaced that describes how the country in your paper impacts the world environment. If you are considering this option, look at the tables and figures throughout chapter 10. In some cases, the data in chapter 10 will be for a larger region than your country. It is ok to report the data for the region, but indicate that you are doing so. For example, if your country is Canada, some tables and figure report North America. You can include a sentence or two about the Kyoto protocol if you choose, but we already covered that in another assignment, so most of your answer should address other issues. You may also indicate some areas you believe that your country needs to be concerned about. These concerns should reflect the situation in your country. For example an agricultural country might consider agricultural issues noted in table 10-6.
